Parent Participation

All next week parents will have the opportunity to step out on the mat and join their child's class, so plan on bringing shorts and T-shirt and let's have some fun!

Also remember that parent participation does not only last for a week, but everyday, on and off of the mat. So check on the blog to see whats going on at the academy, and talk with Daren and me for daily progress reports.

See you on Saturday

Teamwork

Another good training session guys! Remember teamwork is the key to progressing in jiu jitsu and here at alliance kids it is a vital part of every class.

Fourth of July

No class next Saturday, so make sure you train hard, and we will also be having parent participation all next week, so parents bring something comfortable like shorts and a t-shirt you won't mind sweating in.

See you on the mat

Zone diet smoothie

Looking for a way to keep cool this summer? Then try a refreshing zone smoothie that will keep you and your little ones energized both before and after training
Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Milk or Soymilk
  • 1 Cup frozen strawberries (or fresh if available)
  • 1 kiwi, peeled
  • 1 Cup ice cubes (if using fresh strawberries)
  • 2 scoops Protein Powder (any type)
  • 6 almonds
Feel free to mix and match the ingredients depending on availability, for instance if you don't have protein powder you can substitute more milk into the mix, or instead of almonds use a big spoon full of peanut butter

For more info on this and other nutritional recipes check out the zone diet or ask your resident smoothie experts Mr. Daren and Mr. Alec and keep an eye out for more summer treats

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to Alexander Daya in the advanced class who had a birthday this Monday.
Remember, if you have a birthday or any special events coming up let us know, either at the academy or by email and we will put it up.

Belt Tying Tips

Hey guys! As you all know or will find out, tying and maintaining a tied belt during class is on of the initial hurdles of jiu-jitsu, so in order to help beginning students and their parents and to promote the older students to actively keep their belts around their waist Mr. Daren and I will hand out stars to those students who make an attempt to keep their belts tied (either through the help of their parents, the instructors, or themselves).
So stay on the lookout
